This Cookie Policy explains how Piscine uses cookies and similar technologies (collectively, “cookies”) when you visit https://www.piscine.us. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to understand how a site is used. Some cookies are set by the site you are visiting (“first-party cookies”). Others are set by a third party whose service is loaded on the page (“third-party cookies”).
2. The cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These cookies are required for the Site to function. They cannot be switched off without breaking the Site. Examples:
- piscine_consent — remembers your cookie-consent choice so the banner does not reappear on every page. Expires in 12 months.
- piscine_session — used to keep the Site working correctly during your visit. Expires when you close the browser.
Analytics (optional)
We use a privacy-respecting analytics service to understand how the Site is used in aggregate — which pages are read, how long visitors stay, which articles are most useful. We choose providers that do not build cross-site advertising profiles and that anonymize IP addresses. You can decline these in our cookie banner.
Functional (optional)
Functional cookies may remember small preferences (for example, your preferred font size or recently viewed recipes). They do not track you across sites. You can decline these in our cookie banner.
3. We do not currently use advertising cookies
At the time of writing, the Site does not display third-party banner advertising, and we do not set cookies used to build cross-site advertising profiles. If this changes in the future, we will update this page and ask for your consent through the cookie banner before any such cookies are set.
4. Managing cookies
You can manage cookies in two ways:
- Through our cookie banner. When you first visit the Site, our cookie banner asks for your consent to optional cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clicking the “Cookie preferences” link in our footer.
- Through your browser. Most browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies through the settings menu. Help pages from major browsers — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge — explain how. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
5. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no industry-wide standard for how sites must respond. We do not currently rely on this signal, but we do honor consent choices made through our cookie banner and through Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where applicable.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the Site evolves. The “last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision.
